Downtown Las Vegas Hotels

The city of Las Vegas lies in the State of Nevada in the United States of America. It was established in 1905 and elevated to city status in 1911. The city is within Clark County and covers an area of about 340 sq. kms.

According to the US Census bureau 2009 figures, the city had a population of over 3 Million (urban and metro area) with over 70% of the population being whites, 10% Black Americans, 0.6% Native Americans. Pacific Islanders are also to be found here. The city of Las Vegas is the most populous in the State of Nevada. Nevada is renowned for renting cars, gambling, high life, shopping and prides itself as the entertainment capital of the world.

The city of Las Vegas lies in a desert area that is usually subjected to flash floods. While the surrounding areas and mountains remain dry, the city itself exhibits lush vegetation with lawns and trees giving the city a beautiful look.

Las Vegas' main economic activities are to be found in retail business, tourism, gaming and entertainment. The hospitality industry is well developed with many hotels established to cater for the thousands of visitors and tourists who flock into the city throughout the year. The city continues to witness continued population growth, necessitating the need for additional housing. The construction industry in the city is booming with several housing units continuously being put up.

Las Vegas' downtown area has continued to maintain an old feeling. However, developments started in the 1990's have seen a change in the downtown area. In particular, the Fremont Street Experience (FSE) changed Las Vegas' downtown area. Although the economic slow down experienced world wide in 2008 stopped most re-development activities, the city continues to be modernized with the aim of attracting more tourists.

The city of Las Vegas has many events spread throughout the whole year. These events feature internationally renowned artists. Las Vegas hotels play a big part in these events as they host them. Other performances and shows are also held in different hotels and venues. These attract thousands of tourists. The Fremont Street Experience features spectacular lighting shows many feet in the air and people travel from all round the world to witness the show. The Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino features hundreds of aquatic life that attract thousands over the year.

Las Vegas's downtown area features some of the best hotels in Las Vegas. The downtown area still has some of the old facilities, especially those of gaming. Casinos are also to be found here although larger ones are to be found on the verge of the city. Most downtown Las Vegas hotels feature casinos.

Downtown Las Vegas hotels are mainly found along Fremont Street, which also features several bars. Hotels here have small casinos that accommodate a restricted number of clients. Apart from hotels and casinos, the city of Las Vegas also has several parks for recreation. Downtown Las Vegas hotels have multi-lingual staff, and communication is easy. This makes hotel visitors feel easy and enjoy their stay.
